North Florida Wildlife Center
A click-and-reveal experience with slide layers for a local non-profit.
In planning my own trip to North Florida Wildlife Center, (hopefully to see their resident two-toed sloth) I was browsing their website to learn more about the animals housed at their sanctuary. I was a little disappointed to find that when my mouse hovered over the animals’ pictures, I could see their species name but clicking on them did not lead to more pictures or information. I figured the folks at NFWC were pretty busy taking care of the animals and running the sanctuary, so maybe they could use a hand.
I spoke with NFWC Executive Director Ryan David Reines and proposed a fun click-and-reveal learning experience for the website. Learning more about each animal would increase viewers’ emotional investment in NFWC’s mission and animal conservation on the whole. The online experience would pique viewer’s interest, which would lead to them visiting the Center, and result in more donations and long-term patrons for NFWC.
This project was created in Articulate Storyline 360 using slide layers, hover states, and animations. I used Canva and Adobe Photoshop to create graphics and images and Google Docs to collect information on each animal.
My plan is to add voice narration for each slide with the ability for the learner to toggle narration on and off. I would also like to add a world map for each animal to show where they can be found in the wild.
